Happiness is...

...returning home from holiday to find your balcony bursting with home grown veggies ready to eat! The sugar snap peas are the best I have ever tasted (yep, of course they are since they are home grown and I am totally biased), the lettuce is crisp and tasty, as are the radishes. The carrots are tiny but tasty (I wasn't even expecting them to become anything near edible at all, so this is a nice surprise).

The potato plants... oh my. The potato plants are threatening to take over my entire balcony, regardless of the fact they are confined to a large basin. Can't wait to see if they'll actually yield any edible spuds. And the tomato plants have grown loads, to the point where actual tomatoes appearing before the end of summer is a real possibility. Who would have thought?

So, last night I had the pleasure of eating an almost entirely home grown salad (minus the tomatoes) with my dinner. Yummy!

Have you ever grown your own veggies? As a complete noob with limited space available I'd love to hear about easy-to-grow vegetables that can be grown in small spaces.

[The following can be ignored, it's just a piece of code I had to include in order to register my blog on Bloggurat. I've located my blog in Kristiansund on a map of norwegian blogs.]

  1. Wow I love your balcony garden. It's beautiful. Those sugar snap peas are making my mouth water, they are so plump and fresh.

  2. I would love to grow my own veggies! However, first I have to do a balcony make-over and there is so much that needs to be done before that. Hopefully I will have one next year!

    1. I just started some seedlings indoors, then got several bigger containers and moved them onto the balcony as the weather got warmer. I really have no clue what I am doing either ;)
