Staircase!
My alternate tread staircase arrived earlier in the week, and today I finally had time to assemble it. Ikea certainly has something to learn from these guys: 12 pieces, 8 screws and 20 minutes later it was done!
So now I just need a carpenter to do the actual scary cut-a-hole-in-the-ceiling bit. I might be ambitious, but I'm not that brave. Or stupid. Some things are better left to the pros, eh?

It's from here: http://norskvinduskompani.no/produkter/hemstrapp/ Really a very clever solution when space is limited, as alternate tread stairs have a much smaller footprint than an ordinary staircase or even a spiral one :)
